MAY 11, 2010  Taller towers defeated.   By a unanimous vote, the Board of Commissioners overturned the Planning Commission decision to allow towers over 199 ft. in Crow Wing County. This effectively ends the AT&T proposal to have very high blinking towers in Crow Wing County. WAPOA, other groups, and concerned citizens appeared at the 2 meetings and voiced opposition to the proposal. For more detail CLICK HERE     


 

Boating Courtesy/Safety

Boating Safety/Courtesy Classes for ages 12-17.

Classes were taught by DNR Officer Nikki Shoutz and Crow Wing Deputy Sheriff  Sgt. Scott Goddard. WAPOA gave each student a life preserver, and Brad Nelson of C+C Boatworks conducted registration and provided lunch. They received classroom and on-the-water instruction. They were held on June 16 and June 30 . Sheriffs water deputies Todd Holk and Aaron Cronquist are also in the photo.

WAPOA President Judy Wallschlaeger welcomes Crow Wing County Admininstrator Tim Houle and Crow Wing County Commissioner Paul Thiede to the April 2010 WAPOA Board Meeting.

Meetings are held monthly at the Ideal Community Hall.

WAPOA MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Whitefish Area Property Owners Association is to promote environmental stewardship through out the Whitefish area and the Pine River Watershed.

The membership shall work with area environmental groups, lake and resort associations, agencies and units of local government to preserve and improve the quality of our water, land, air, aesthetics, wildlife and other natural resources for present and future generations.
